Socket and Switch Installation: What We Actually Check

Written by Zakk Davis, Founder & Electrician

Adding or replacing a socket or switch looks like a small job, and often it is, but there are things worth checking before the work starts rather than after. The first is which circuit the new socket will sit on, and whether that circuit already has spare capacity for another load.

Positioning matters too, particularly in kitchens and bathrooms where there are specific rules around how close a socket can be to a water source. We work to those rules as standard, not as an afterthought.

Relocating an existing socket is a slightly different job to adding a new one, since it usually means extending or rerouting cable rather than just tapping into the nearest point, which changes both the time and the cost.

Every socket and switch job, however small, gets checked properly, the same as a full rewire. Call 087 187 0353 for a free quote.
